Re-Elect Tanya Thorn

Okotoks Mayor

Leadership with Heart. Vision in Action.

Okotoks is more than where we live—it’s where we belong. It’s a community defined by relationships, pride, and a shared responsibility to leave something better for the next generation. Under Tanya Thorn’s leadership, Okotoks has embraced the best of small-town spirit—connection, care, and resilience—while preparing responsibly for the future. Tanya’s vision is action-driven: keep our small-town spirit alive, create opportunities for families and businesses, and build a stronger foundation for generations yet to come.

Meet Tanya Thorn

For over 30 years, Okotoks has been my home. I’ve built my life here, raised my family here, and now I’m watching the next generation experience Okotoks in their own way. I am a dedicated advocate for Okotoks, bringing over a decade of experience in municipal governance. These connections give me a deep understanding of the needs of our community across every stage of life.

As Mayor my leadership is characterized by a deep commitment to the community, collaboration and transparency.

“Tanya has been an amazing support to the non-profits in Okotoks. Wishing you all the best for a successful election!”

Charlene H., Local Business Owner

“Mayor Tanya Thorn has been an incredible leader for Okotoks because of her genuine interest and connection to the people of Okotoks. She is approachable, visible and deeply involved in the life of our town.

I appreciate that Mayor Thorn demonstrates a clear understanding of how the arts and athletic assets can reinforce one another rather than compete against each other. She has supported both with dedicated funding, inclusive planning and a community centred vision. This continues to help Okotoks flourish as a balanced, vibrant and welcoming community. “

Tanya Z., resident

“Tanya has done a terrific job in your first term and has taken accessibility to her and her office to a level never seen before. It means she takes the criticism along with the kudos, and has handled it with grace and professionalism. Keep up the great work!! “

Bev C., Local Business Owner

“You are the best mayor we have ever had!”

Rosemary B, Resident

“A capable, experienced, thoughtful leader!”

Claire, Resident

“I am a 30-year resident of Okotoks. I have worked with 200 communities in Canada over 33 years as an economic developer and urban planner. Tanya is rare. The best Mayors lead with big picture vision and grit in action that out-does vs out-talk, make tough legacy-making decisions that avoid the trap of popularity contests, and communicate with clarity and passion in a way that connects ideas to people, and people to each other. Tanya is a “best of.” She is Okotoks’ biggest fan. She works tirelessly on behalf of residents. We are lucky to have Tanya as Mayor, and I look forward to seeing her re-elected in October 2025.”

Chris, Resident & Business Owner
